Certificate III in Conservation and Land Management (CALM) students participated in a cockle survey as part of a unit on fauna. The surveys are conducted by Sylvia from Aquasave – Nature Glenelg Trust. Students were trained in two methods of catching the cockles and then measuring the length, weighing them, tagging them and recording data before releasing them back into the ocean. It was a fantastic opportunity to be part of an ongoing study into the population density and age stratification of the cockles along Goolwa Beach.
