Investigator College finished 2nd in the SAPSASA Athletic Championships this week. The Championships were held at Victor Harbor R-7 School in pristine weather conditions. Our students’ behaviour and effort were exceptional! All but two of our age group divisions qualified for the 100m and 200m finals, with four students breaking District Athletic records. An incredible achievement.
Evie French and Corey Simms both broke their respective 13-year-old 800m District records. Evie ran a measured race, being in the pack nearing the end of the first lap and then leading the group home. Evie also won the 100m race. Corey led from start to finish and was physically exhausted, winning by nearly 100m.
Riley North broke the 13-year-old boys 200m District record, to go with his comprehensive 100m win as well. Riley won three events on the day.
Sam White also broke the 13-year-old boys Discus record with a record throw of 25.56 metres. This beat his 2019 District record throw of 22.10m throw, where he still holds this record. Sam is also the current 100m 11-year-old boys record holder from 2019 and 200m record holder from 2018. This goes with his 2019 10-year-old boys High Jump record. Sam also finished 1st in Shot Put and 2nd in the 100m and 800m races. An amazing day for Sam.
Angelina Rafanelli also had three placings – 2nd in Discus and 100m and a 3rd in Shot Put
Congratulations to all students who participated. We need to keep working hard to reclaim the championship!
