On Friday 2 March and Saturday 3 March Investigator College, along with teams from Encounter Lutheran, Victor Harbor High and Meningie Area School, competed in the South Eastern Regional Team Sailing Championships hosted by Investigator College and run by the Victor Harbor Yacht Club and Goolwa Aquatic Club.

After two days of close competition, the Investigator Green team of Ella Konings, Tayla Kelsey, Scarlett Sullivan, Abbey Nott, Indiah Kelsey, Tamsin Savery and Mitchell Kelsey was locked on 16 wins with the Investigator Aqua team of Isaac Konings, Harry Grimmett, Max Brown, Nathan Lush, Isaac Lush, Hugo Spees and Matthew Brehin.  It came down to the winner of the last race of the regatta between these two teams to decide who would be the South Eastern Regional Champion Team for 2018.

Earlier in the regatta, Investigator Aqua had scored two wins over Investigator Green. However, their last race against each other saw Investigator Green reverse those results.  The final race was an excellent contest, where each team had chances to clinch the championship. After a close and exciting race it was Investigator Green who was victorious. The overall score for the regatta was Investigator Green 18 wins, Investigator Aqua 16 wins, Encounter Lutheran and Victor Harbor High School 11 wins each, Meningie Gold 4 wins and Meningie Maroon no wins.

Congratulations to all Investigator sailors who will now continue to train for the State Regatta to be held at Goolwa during the first week of the Term 1 holidays.  Thanks to our two coaches, Ben Kelsey and Harry Cooper, who provided excellent support and advice for the teams.  Thank you also to the parents and friends who were there cheering their children on or acting as an official in some capacity.

Thank you to Sandi Grimmett for all of her hard work in organising the “off water” aspects of the regatta.
