Thriving Through the Finish Line

Wednesday, 3 April 2024
It is hard to believe that we are coming to the end of Term 1. So much has happened. Many of the students are certainly feeling the fatigue and we are trying to encourage them to finish well.

To finish the term well we have encouraged them to consider the following strategies;

  • Prioritise Tasks: Make a list of all remaining tasks, assignments, and tests you need to complete before the term ends. Utilise the Schoolbox dates tab and prioritise them based on deadlines and importance. I always encourage  students to allow for other interruptions like part-time work and sport. Good planning, can make a huge difference to finishing well.
  • Create a Schedule: Allocate specific time slots for each task and stick to your schedule as much as possible. Break larger tasks into smaller, manageable chunks to avoid feeling overwhelmed. Study/work smarter, not harder.
  • Seek Help if Needed: Don’t hesitate to ask for help from teachers, classmates, or family if you’re struggling with any assignments or concepts. Our staff at Investigator are so accessible and I encourage students to tap into their skills and knowledge. It has been very positive to see Year 11 and 12 students take advantage of our Wednesday night study sessions.
  • Practice Self-Care: Prioritise self-care activities such as getting enough sleep, eating healthily, and engaging in relaxation techniques like meditation or exercise. Taking care of your physical and mental well-being is crucial during busy periods. It is also very important to have fun. Teenagers, need to be young and carefree at times.

We have so much to look forward to in the coming weeks and months and I am excited to be able to offer up some new experiences for our students. A Year 11 Winter Sleep Out and Year 12 Mid-Year retreat are just two of these new experiences on offer for our Year 7-12 students…watch this space for more.

Thank you to our families for supporting our staff, as we have had to manage some notable staff absences due to illness. We can always count on the strength of our community in tricky times. I wish you all a successful and happy end to Term 1 and I look forward to seeing what Term 2 brings.
