Year 9s Aidin, Ben, Charlie and Ollie have now qualified to compete at the World Championships (an event sponsored by the likes of Google, Tesla, NASA and Amazon).
In April 2026, they will travel from Victor Harbor to St Louis, Missouri to represent the College and Australia on the world stage.
After finishing fourth in the qualifiers, they partnered with third-placed Barker College from New South Wales in the Grand Final to secure the National Teamwork Challenge Champion title.
“This result is still sinking in for our students and for our College,” Principal John Robinson said.
“We went in knowing we had a genuine chance, but we also recognised the strength of the national competition, particularly from large metropolitan schools.
“The win is a credit to these four students and the skills they have developed, as well as to our Head of Digital Innovation, Andrew Ayliffe. We’ve backed our robotics teams from the beginning, giving them the resources and flexibility they need to train and improve.
“Our community has supported these teams from day one, and that energy has helped them perform at their best under pressure.
“Our investment in robotics will continue to grow, particularly with the opening of our new building, featuring dedicated robotics studios, in 2026.
“Robotics is just one example of how we’re aligning student learning with the skills the modern workforce demands.
“There is no real ceiling for our students – at the College, or once they graduate.”
Six additional Investigator College teams also competed, with a special mention to 40% Luck, who also reached the Finals.
