Welcome Back

Thursday, 9 May 2024
I hope that all Investigator families had a very enjoyable holiday break.  A chance to recharge and refresh.  I look forward to the coming term and the exciting opportunities that the students will have both in and out of the classroom.

New faces among us

It is always exciting to return to school for a new term, and it adds to the excitement when new students are joining our classes.  This term we would like to welcome the following students (pictured above). Harrison Surgey (Yr 8/Waratah) and his brother William (Yr 4/Waratah), Lucy Norris (Yr 4/Waratah), Gemma Williams (Yr 6/Banksia) and Lucy Mulvihill (Yr 3/Blue Gum).

We are also delighted to welcome a number of students who are starting their learning journey at Investigator in our Early Learning Centre.

Welcome to Finley Anthony, Val Cocks, Austin Cousins, George Darling, Harry Davis, Hudson Gibbs, Ned Hodgkinson, Rylie Jablonski, Emma Kay, Jayden Mahoney, Maisie Middleton, Sidney Mumford and Lennox Kelly.

I am sure that they will have a wonderful time getting to know new friends as well as enjoying all of the activities that our Early Learning Centre staff provide.

ANZAC Day

The early morning service on ANZAC Day is always so very moving, and the service at Victor Harbor this year was certainly no exception.  Our Junior School Captains, Tate Jackson and Adelaide Noble, represented us perfectly and laid a wreath on behalf of the school. Thank you to the Jackson and Noble families for braving the light rain and early start to honour and remember the sacrifices made by so many to keep our country safe and free.

Aputula Finke Donation Drive

Amanda Westley, a local Ngarrindjeri artist and College parent, is reaching out to our community for support in providing essential items to the remote Aboriginal community of Aputula Finke. Due to high prices at the sole community store (a toothbrush can cost $9), many residents lack access to basics like shampoo and toothbrushes. To help, we’re setting up a drop-off point at Student Services. Your donations of items like hair brushes and toiletries will make a real difference in the lives of those in need. If you are in a position to donate, items can be dropped off until 24 May. Amanda, Sophia and Tigerlilly will personally deliver these donations. They thank you for your support!

Our Swimmers Lead The Way

Regular readers of Investigator news would remember that our swimming team dominated the Southern Fleurieu SAPSASA swimming carnival earlier in the year, winning both the overall competition and the handicap shield ahead of the 11 other schools that participated.  As a result of their success, the following students went on to represent the District at the State Championships held at the SA Aquatic and Leisure Centre on 8 April. Isla Curnow (Yr 4 / Wattle – 10 yrs Breastroke), Irene Debnath (Yr 5 / Banksia – 10 yrs Freestyle and Relay), Natalia Perre (Yr 4 / Banksia),  Kelsey Webb (Yr 4 / Waratah)- 10 yrs Relay), Seb Warhurst (Yr 5 / Waratah- 11yrs Freestyle, relay, Breaststroke, and the 100m freestyle) , Oliver Morris (Yr 6 / Blue Gum – 11yrs backstroke and relay), Indiana Smart (Yr 5 / Waratah – 11yrs relay), Shay-Leigh Knighton (Yr 5 / Blue Gum – 11yrs Relay) and Audrey Hall (Yr 6 / Blue Gum) Freestyle, Backstroke, Breaststroke, Butterfly and Relay).
