This year marks my sixteenth year at Investigator College and I am so proud to lead the Senior School and of the growth and positive direction we are moving into.

A warm welcome to our Year 9 and Year 10 students, who now join our Senior School. We are also fortunate enough to welcome two staff members to our Senior School teaching team, Georgina Thomas and the returning Emma Carter. We have a strong and united team in the Senior School and we are excited for the year ahead.

We have a number of key events to look forward to and some new initiatives in Term 1 that we feel will improve the enjoyment of school life and academic outcomes for our students. The key events will include our always popular fun and exciting Surf Carnival and Sports Day. We will host another Open Day and enjoy an early start to the Easter weekend. As always, there will be numerous extra-curricular activities for our students from sport to art club to the Musical. We encourage all students to get involved as our dedicated staff go above and beyond to offer these opportunities.

As of this week, Year 11-12 study sessions will start on a Wednesday night. All Year 11-12 students are welcome to attend in the Senior School from 3:30pm – 5:00pm. Year 11-12 Intensive sessions will also run in Week 11 of this term. These sessions proved to be a tremendous success last year and I have no doubt that they will again.

A couple of areas that I would really like our students and staff to focus on this year are:

  • Personal Growth and Achievement: Each student has the potential for personal growth and academic achievement. By setting goals, staying motivated and seeking support when needed, students can overcome challenges and succeed academically and personally.
  • Building Relationships: The school year presents opportunities to forge new friendships, strengthen existing relationships, and develop positive connections with teachers and peers. These relationships can provide support, encouragement and a sense of belonging throughout the academic journey. In the Senior School we pride ourselves on our connections with our students as we know they are critical to student success and wellbeing. We encourage our families to also connect with us.

As we embark on this new school year together, let’s approach it with a positive attitude, a willingness to learn and grow, and a commitment to supporting one another in our academic endeavours. Here’s to a successful and rewarding year ahead!  I hope to see you all at our Welcome Evening.
