Swimming was the winner

After a week of temperatures soaring, the time was right for the Junior School to enjoy their swimming carnival at Strathalbyn Pool. This event serves multiple purposes. It is a great opportunity for students to celebrate House spirit and encourage fellow students to extend themselves with their swimming. Secondly it allows the students who are accomplished swimmers to demonstrate their talents and be encouraged by their House mates. In addition, this day is a great example of students having fun and often going out of their comfort zone in a supportive environment.

This year we allocated points for events which enabled us to determine year level champions as well as an overall winning House.

Our 2025 Junior School Swim Champions are:

  • 2015 (10 year old): – Adam Williams (4B / Blue Gum) & Margot Ray ( 4G / Banksia House)
  • 2014 ( 11 year olds) – Nathan Foote (5D / Blue Gum) & Irene Debnath
  • 2013 (12 year olds) – Sebastian Warhurst ( 6L / Waratah) & Hannah Williams ( 6C / Blue Gum)

The finishing positions for the overall House championship were:

  • Waratah 1st
  • Blue Gum 2nd
  • Banksia 3rd
  • Wattle 4th

Structures to stand the test of time

During their Design and Technologies sessions with Mr Freebairn recently, Junior Primary students spent some time working together to create the tallest tower they could using only dowel and rubber sticklets. It was a great challenge which required problem solving and team work to be successful. Students created some great structures.
