From Our Principal

Short-term pain for long-term gain!

Thursday, 6 February 2025
Thank you for your patience regarding the construction of our new carpark. By the time you read this article it is anticipated that our new safer and user-friendly carpark will be functional, to be closely followed by the completion of a separate staff parking area, freeing up additional places for our families. As you will see, work has also begun on Investigator’s substantial new centrepiece building – with benefits for all ELC- Year 12 students.

John Robinson

Principal

Tremendous excitement is brewing throughout the College and many students from other schools are seeking places. The word is definitely out there: Investigator College is making huge advances in its quest to be the first choice for education on the Fleurieu – fulfilling, innovative in its offerings, empowering students for life! The staff team is dedicated and motivated. The positivity is palpable!

Get Involved- become a volunteer

The benefits of volunteering are backed by science and we have opportunities for you and/or other family members and friends at Investigator College.

The Galley (canteen)

We are still seeking volunteers to assist The Galley manager, Kylie Zarins, in her efforts to provide an outstanding canteen.

If you or any grandparents, neighbours or friends in your network can provide a day or half-day every week, fortnight, or month to help with food prep and customer service, then the students of Investigator College will be extremely grateful.

To discuss becoming a volunteer, please contact Kylie at kzarins@investigator.sa.edu.au or Dan McCartney, HR Manager dmccartney@investigator.sa.edu.au

Parents and Friends

Our P&F does a marvellous job supporting College events but more parents are needed to help spread the load. This presents a great opportunity to get to know and have fun with other parents (and staff) while giving back to your child’s school.

For further information please contact Community and Events Coordinator, Sally Shepherd, at sshepherd@investigator.sa.edu.au or Parents & Friends at pandf@investigator.sa.edu.au

I love this school and look forward to catching up with all of you at our Welcome Evening on 13 February.

Embracing a growth mindset

Embracing a growth mindset

Sometimes in our lives we encounter individuals or groups with fixed mindsets. People with these mindsets believe that their talents and abilities are fixed, and cannot be improved. Their learning is stifled, because they will not venture beyond their comfort zone, and see effort and persistence as pointless. They are not open to feedback, and often resent the person offering it. People with a fixed mindset generally turn their back on new approaches and stick to what they have done in the past, without evaluating its effectiveness.
