Joining the queue for a free coffee with their owners, and making the most of an opportunity to gather their full quota of pats and ear scratches, it was fantastic to see more than 40 dogs, along with their families gathering at the College for our first major event of 2023.
The joy and excitement with which our students, parents and families embraced the presence of the canine members of our College Community capped off the initial two weeks of Term 1 with a sense of positivity and optimism – something we look forward to much more of in the year ahead!
Over and above the joy Dogs In The Quad brings to us as individuals, the event also serves as a timely reminder of Investigator College’s commitment to Positive Education and Student Wellbeing. In an article addressing the question of ‘What is Positive Education?’, our interstate Anglican counterparts at Geelong Grammar School, who lead the way in Positive Education, released an updated definition for Positive Education in schools which broadened the scope to not only include staff and students, but the broader community:
“Positive Education is engaging wholeheartedly with pro-active practices which strengthen community wellbeing.”
In line with our own commitment to Positive Education, Investigator College would like to thank all of our parents/caregivers, friends and family members (and their dogs!) for attending.
Dogs In The Quad, and other events we will be looking ahead to this year, really do strengthen the community ties and improve the wellbeing of our entire College community – and where there is excellent wellbeing, excellence in learning tends to follow.
In the words of Mr. Robinson’s Border Collie, Albus: “WOOF!” (which we believe roughly translates to ‘thank you all so much for coming!’)
