Their participation in this life-changing event has been made possible through the advocation of Head of Science Mr Chris Detmar and the generous financial support of the Victor Harbor, Encounter Bay and Goolwa Rotary Clubs.
The students will spend eight days in Canberra, engaging in a host of enriching experiences aimed at nurturing their passion for science and technology.
During their time at NYSF, these young scientists will explore cutting-edge research and various science and technology facilities. They will also gain valuable insights into university training and the diverse career pathways available within the STEM field. The forum will serve as a platform for them to connect with like-minded students hailing from all corners of Australia, participate in social and team-building activities, and collaborate with industry partners and research providers. The students will also learn from former NYSF participants, who will share their own inspiring journeys and network with our students.
Chloe is passionate about pursuing a career in science. She believes that the NYSF experience will provide her with a unique opportunity to explore various scientific disciplines, helping her to narrow down her future career path.
Madi aspires to enter the medical field and sees NYSF as a chance to connect with peers who share her determination to pursue STEM-related careers.
Bell dreams of studying science at the University of Adelaide and specialising in astrophysics. Her desire to unlock the secrets of the universe is bound to be further fuelled by her participation in NYSF.
Colin Francis, Youth Director for the Rotary Club of Encounter Bay, expressed his enthusiasm for the caliber of student applications. He eagerly anticipates hearing about their NYSF experiences upon their return, emphasising that this support embodies the essence of what Rotary stands for – making a positive impact on the lives of our students.
